New emojis in Unicode 9
Now the Unicode consortium has presented a preview of the 72 new emojis for the next standard in version 9 and made some suggestions for implementation in the various operating systems.
The Unicode Consortium is a non-profit organization that works on the so-called Unicode. Unicode is an international standard that defines a value for all characters, including emojis.
Why are new emojis always being added?
Just like technology, culture changes, it does not stand still. Whether new music is released or a new art direction emerges, everything contributes to the culture, and so does emojis. They are now so integrated into our everyday lives that we no longer realize what they are: A reflection of the constantly changing culture. This is the reason why, for example, a selfie emoji is now being introduced and, in the course of gender equality or “gender equality”, other-sex equivalents such as Mrs Claus or the groom to be provided.
When are the new emojis coming?
The new standard will be officially published on June 21 and is then ready to be incorporated by the manufacturers of the operating systems. The new emojis could already find their way into iOS 10 and Android N [utella?] 6.0 and thus be available for the first users towards the end of the 3rd quarter of this year.
