Wirecard insolvent: what boon users should do now
Wirecard has speculated and is insolvent: after a huge accounting scandal, you have no more funds. The German payment service provider, which was originally founded by an Austrian, is over-indebted.
Earlier this week it was announced that the 1,9 billion euros the company had booked in trustee accounts most likely did not exist, like that Süddeutsche Zeitung reported. Again and again there were rumors that Wirecard was doing crooked business, which was never taken seriously. Despite regular audits, the German supervisory authorities had not seen any abnormalities.

I also used boon in the past to be able to pay with my smartphone in Austria, as I did with mine Advisor described have. So you could Fitbit Pay can also be used very easily in this country. Now that's done - the boon. planet accounts are currently frozen. Users who only use boon to pay (boon. Planet is a fully-fledged bank account) can continue to use it. Nevertheless, it is advisable to request the account closure in the app or to spend the remaining money.
Although the deposits are covered by the German deposit insurance up to 100.000 euros - how long you then have to chase your money is still unclear. There has never been a banking scandal like this before. So the best option is to spend the money as soon as possible. One thing is clear: Getting the money out of the deposit insurance fund will take much longer than going to a store for a moment or spending the credit online.
