boon: Wirecard payment app is being discontinued
boon will be discontinued - a few weeks after the Wirecard bankruptcy now known. While all the legal procedures and audits are still ongoing, Wirecard will discontinue the service itself at the beginning of October.
The boon payment app will officially be terminated on October 3, 2020. However, users of the boon.PLANET banking app are not affected by this, as can be found in a letter by email and in this News articles stressed. Users are called on to spend the money before October 3, 2020, after which a monthly fee of 2,50 euros will be charged on the remaining balance.

The payout can currently take longer due to the high number of inquiries, the company writes in the broadcast. So it is best to take matters into your own hands and spend the money. A couple of options include:
- Spending money in a store
- Money output online (e.g. on a Top up your Amazon account as credit)
- Top up money if you want to buy something in the shop for around 2,99 euros, but have only topped up, for example, 2,21 euros
- Cash out money through support (takes up to 21 days)
As you can see, the last option is probably the worst. If you still want to use this, you should send an email to boon or contact the telephone support. You will do the latter until the end of the Programms, after that there will only be email support.
By the way, you have also stopped all automatic top-ups so that you don't accidentally top up your account. Once you have brought your account balance to 0, the account will automatically be closed at the beginning of October - you don't need to do anything.
