Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra: titanium frame
A big leap in the production of the flagship is the titanium frame. Comparable to the iPhone 15Proseries, Samsung uses several different colors, black, gray, purple and a light shade of yellow. According to the manufacturer, Gorilla Glass Victus 2 should ensure a significantly more stable device. The device is also IP68 dust and water resistant.
On the front there is a 6,8-inch QHD+ screen with a dynamic refresh rate of 1-120 Hertz. Unlike the Galaxy S23 Ultra, the screen is now flat instead of rounded at the corners. Samsung also promises a significantly brighter screen of 2600 nits than its predecessor. In addition, the edges on the sides have become significantly thinner.
Only Galaxy with Snapdragon
While Samsung is still completely relying on a “Snapdragon 23 Gen 8 for Galaxy” in the Galaxy S2 series Processor has been set, this is only reserved for the Ultra model in the S24 series. The “Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy” is an overclocked 8 Gen 3, which is built using the 4-nanometer process. This is delivered in three configurations. Always with 12 gigabytes of RAM memory, optionally with 256, 512 or one terabyte of internal memory.
Four cameras, new zoom
On paper, not much has changed in terms of cameras in the S24 Ultra. Samsung is using a new sensor. Instead of a 10x optical zoom with a resolution of ten megapixels, the company is now installing a 50-megapixel camera with 5- Optical zoom compartment.
Otherwise, a 200-megapixel main camera is still installed, which is supported by a twelve-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera and a ten-megapixel zoo camera for triple optical zoom. The twelve megapixel front camera also remains unchanged.
Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra: The AI smartphone
In marketing, Samsung is relying heavily on the new software alongside the titanium frame. The S24 series, but especially the Ultra, are intended to be marketed as AI smartphones. Three functions are given strong emphasis. A Samsung account is required for all three functions, and one even requires an internet connection.
Live translation
The Galaxy S24 can translate phone calls in real time. So if you are on the phone with someone from abroad or in another language, a translation will be displayed on the screen in real time. We will check in detail review whether this works as well as in advertising.
Generative editing
This function is very reminiscent of Google's “Magic Editor”. You can use it to add images, move objects or enlarge them. The AI then calculates the missing pixels and the photos can be edited without any major Photoshop skills.
Notes Assistant
This function works particularly well with the S24 Ultra, as it is the only smartphone to have the S-Pen built in. Written notes or already formulated texts can be summarized. However, the function is limited to 4000 characters and requires an internet connection.
Longer updates, same battery
The S24 series ships with the latest Android 14/OneUI 6.1, and there is also a big promise from the update policy. Just like Google, Samsung will deliver a full seven years of updates to its flagship series, both feature updates and security patches. This is a big leap, because it means that the second company is already overtaking the former top dog, Apple.
The 5000 milliampere battery should also last longer, but it still cannot be charged faster than 45 watts. Wireless charging of both your own battery and other devices is still possible.
Prices and availability
The Galaxy S24 Ultra will be available with 256 gigabytes of internal storage for 1449 euros from January 30th. 512 gigabytes cost 1.569 euros, a terabyte costs 1.809 euros.
Those who pre-order receive double the storage of the basic version (256 instead of 128 for the S24, 512 instead of 256 gigabytes for the S24+/Ultra). There is also a 100 euro purchase premium (+ the residual value of the old device), as well as a Galaxy Watch6 (40 mm, Bluetooth) for a promotional price of 100 euros.
wooo! is there also an s24 and s24 plus?
