Among the experimental functions of Chrome there is now the possibility to activate the Material Design for Google Chrome before the public release. In the following guide we will show you how to activate the whole thing.

More and more software from Google is relying on the new material design. As of Lollipop 5.0, the design is used in Android versions. So far there has been no official release of a Chrome material design, probably only from Chrome version 50. But if you want to test it in advance, you now have the chance.

Activate Material Design in Google Chrome

To get to the experimental settings of Google Chrome, enter in the URL line above "chrome: // flags " on. Now scroll to the middle of the page or search for "Material Design ". Now you should choose the menu item as the first suggestion "Material Design in the upper bar of the Chrome browser" get displayed. With this setting you activate the material design for the upper bar in Chrome - select there Non material, material or material hybrid the end. We currently see no difference between material and material hybrid.

To activate the flat design known from Android for several areas in Chrome, you can switch to the next point in the search function, e.g. Show user manager in Material Design, activate Material Design history or activate Material Design extensions. There you can switch between the options "Activated" and "Deactivated". But note: all features are experimental, so Chrome may crash with these features enabled. TechnikNews assumes no liability.
