Apple Pencil: Which is the right one?

Apple yesterday introduced two new iPads that work with the Apple Pencil are compatible. But with which one exactly? With the Apple Pencil or the Apple Pencil?

2015 came with the first iPad Pro the first Apple Pencil. That was exactly the one you put into the Lightning port to load, which still looks extremely weird. Then, last fall, Apple introduced the iPad Pro for the year 2018. With this came an Apple Pencil with a new design, which is also just called Apple Pencil. So what I'm getting at is that both models have the exact same name. Couldn't you have come up with an addition to tell things apart?

Apple Pencil: which one should I grab?

That's the big question now, because the two identical names can be quite confusing. The newer Apple Pencil is only compatible with the iPad Pro (2018) because this one has the magnetic loading surface on the side. Interestingly, the first Apple Pencil doesn't match the latest Pro compatible, although that would actually be technically possible. You can use it with the two newly introduced iPads, the iPad (2018) and all previous iPads Prouse s.

Hopefully Apple will give a successor a more independent name.
