Images do not load: Fault on Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp has now been resolved

From yesterday afternoon until this morning there were disruptions on Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp. For hours it was not possible to download and send pictures and other media. On Insta, for example, you couldn't look at or post any stories or pictures. The fault has now been remedied.
It seems that there was a problem with Facebook's CDN for a few hours yesterday. This so-called "content delivery network" delivers images and media via several servers. This allows requests to be distributed better and the CDN can deliver content available faster put. Since exactly all three services use this CDN, media (such as pictures, voice messages and videos) could not be viewed or sent.

At first, people thought that they themselves had problems with the Internet or their own smartphone. All three services repeatedly displayed loading bars or arrows to reload the content - but they were always unsuccessful. There is a reason why all services usually fail at the same time: all three services have been linked together for several years and all belong to Facebook. They use the same servers and the same infrastructure. It just doesn't look like that is the case from the outside.
Earlier today, some people and businesses experienced trouble uploading or sending images, videos and other files on our apps and platforms. The issue has since been resolved and we should be back at 100% for everyone. We're sorry for any inconvenience.

The problem should currently be resolved, like Facebook on twitter writes. We apologize for the failure and are now 100% online again. Lately it happens more and more often that popular services have a Malfunction to have.
