Google Pixel Watch 5: More storage, new band and Wear OS 7.0

Google has unveiled its new generation of smartwatches, the Google Pixel Watch 5, officially presented. The new model retains the proven design of its predecessor, However, it brings targeted hardware upgrades such as doubled storage space, a slightly increased battery capacity and Wear OS 7.0 with new Gemini features.

Hardware: 64 GB storage and Snapdragon W5 Gen 2 Accelerated

Under the hood, Google relies on the Snapdragon W5 Gen 2 Accelerated, combined with the familiar Cortex-M55 Co.proThe most significant change in the specifications concerns the internal storage: compared to the Pixel Watch 4, this is doubled from 32 GB to 64 GB eMMC.

The AMOLED LTPO Actua display continues to offer a pixel density of 320 ppi and a peak brightness of up to 3.000 nits. The hardware also remains identical with regard to connectivity interfaces (Bluetooth 6.0, Wi-Fi, NFC, UWB) and IP68 and 5 ATM certifications.

The battery capacities increase slightly for both case sizes:

• 41mm model: 332 mAh (previously 325 mAh)

• 45mm model: 465 mAh (previously 455 mAh)

However, this does not change the official battery life specifications. Google still states up to 30 hours (41 mm) and up to 40 hours (45 mm) for continuous use. In power-saving mode, up to 48 and 72 hours respectively are achieved.

Software: Wear OS 7.0 with Gemini Intelligence

The Pixel Watch 5 ships with Wear OS 7.0 pre-installed. The main feature of the new software version is the integration of "Gemini Intelligence." This function is designed to analyze usage patterns and conversation contexts in order to... proDisplay active and context-related suggestions directly on the smartwatch.

Accessories and colors: HNBR rubber and "Satin Pyrite"

The manufacturer has changed the material of the included second-generation sport wristband: instead of fluoroelastomer, hydrogenated nitrile butadiene rubber (HNBR) is now used. The wristband is still included with the devices in sizes S and L.

Google is introducing a new color called "Satin Pyrite". Here's an overview of the available options:

• 45 mm: Matte Black (bracelet “Volcanic Black”), Polished Silver (bracelet “Mist”), Satin Pyrite (bracelet “Olive”)
