Now there is a function in Instagram that allows you to zoom into pictures and videos of your friends. The feature is currently only available for iOS users, Android users will receive the update in the coming days.

Until now it was not possible to zoom into any image or video on the timeline. At the moment, only a screenshot could be made and then zoomed into the picture in the gallery. The function is available with the latest version 9.2 of Instagram in the App Store for iOS. The feature is not yet available for Android, but if you are a BETA tester, you can already test the feature. If not already, you can here sign up for it.

The update also includes improvements for shooting in dark conditions. The official Instagram account has also published a video. After testing this function for the first time, however, we noticed that when you zoom into an image it becomes quite blurry and pixelated.

Starting today, you can pinch to zoom on photos and videos in feed, on profiles and on Explore. Dive into an adorable puppy's smile or into every detail of your friend's new shirt. Over the past six months, you've seen many exciting changes come to Instagram, from a new icon to longer videos and even a new way to share everyday moments with Instagram Stories. And as things change, we're still focused on improving the core parts of Instagram. Zoom is available today for Instagram on iOS. Zoom will be available on Android in the coming weeks.
