Motorola Razr Fold and Edge 70 Fusion hands-on

After its initial unveiling at CES, Motorola has now revealed all the details at MWC 2026, including specific information on pricing and availability. Alongside the new flagship foldable Razr Fold, the manufacturer is also introducing the Edge 70 Fusion, a mid-range device that surprises with an unusual battery strategy.
Motorola Razr Fold: A powerhouse with an AI button
The Motorola Razr Fold makes a massive impression in our first hands-on, not least because of its hefty weight of 240 grams. The device boasts a huge 8,1-inch 2K LTPO main display, while the 6,6-inch external display with a 165Hz refresh rate is equally impressive.proThe phone is particularly noteworthy for its 6.000 mAh battery, which can be charged wired at 80 watts and wirelessly at an impressive 50 watts. This puts Motorola well ahead of the competition from Samsung, but places it just behind the Honor Magic V6, which was presented yesterday.

One exciting detail we encountered during our hands-on was the dedicated AI button. Motorola is heavily investing in "Moto AI" and offers users a choice between different models like Gemini or Perplexity. On the hardware side, it uses the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, combined with 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage. The camera setup consists of three 50-megapixel sensors on the back, including 3x optical zoom.
However, the starting price is a point of concern: at €1.999, the Razr Fold is nominally more expensive than the base version of Samsung's Fold series, as Motorola has opted not to offer a cheaper 256GB variant. For football fans, there's also a limited FIFA Edition for €2.399, which includes a World Cup ticket. Pre-orders start on April 14th.
Motorola Edge 70 Fusion: Mid-range with battery choice
Motorola positions the Edge 70 Fusion in the more attractively priced segment. Weighing in at a pleasantly light 177 grams, the device comes in the brand's signature vibrant Pantone colors. It features a 6,78-inch AMOLED display with a 144 Hz refresh rate and is powered by the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 processor. A curious detail emerged during a conversation with the PR team: the smartphone appears to be planned with two battery options (5.200 mAh and 7.000 mAh) – an unusual move.

Despite its plastic feel, the Edge 70 Fusion is IP68 and IP69 certified. Prices range from €419 to €469, depending on the storage and RAM configuration (8/256 GB to 12/512 GB).
Ecosystem and first impression
The portfolio is complemented by the new Buds 2 and Buds 2 Plus, which feature active noise cancellation (ANC), but final prices for these were not yet available. My first impression of the Razr Fold is surprisingly positive. Motorola has delivered a technically very powerful foldable that should put considerable pressure on Samsung this year. Whether the high starting price of almost €2.000 will be attractive to the general public remains to be seen in the first comprehensive reviews.
