Snapdragon Digital Chassis: This is how Qualcomm wants to make driving easier
Qualcomm has plans to make life easier for drivers using artificial intelligence. The company showed what this could look like again at MWC 2024.
Newer cars these days are increasingly coming with a voice assistant. But how our tests As you can see, they often cannot handle the simplest commands. Qualcomm therefore wants to use artificial intelligence as part of the “Snapdragon Digital Chassis”ProProjects make the car smart and equip it with connections to the outside world.
What is the Snapdragon Digital Chassis?
Snapdragon Digital Chassis is the name for the platform that car manufacturers can use Processor, which includes supporting AI and connections to the cloud. They still have the option of using their own infotainment operating system, while the intelligence and cloud connection comes from Qualcomm. However, part of the Snapdragon Digital Chassis is also the Snapdragon Cockpit, which was also exhibited here at MWC.
use cases
Two use cases were demonstrated at the trade fair. On the one hand, you can ask the artificial intelligence all conceivable things about the vehicle. “What does this warning light mean?”, “How does the steering wheel work?” or “Open the windows!” are some examples. Of course, questions like “What’s the weather in Las Vegas?” or “Show me restaurants nearby!” can also be interpreted correctly. The system can even process the first examples mentioned locally; an Internet connection is only necessary for the other examples.
Second, the company showed at the MWC exhibition stand what it might look like if the car had a defect and had to go to the workshop. In the demo, a message then appeared on the middle screen with the option to select a nearby workshop with one click. After selection, all information about the defect was automatically sent to the workshop, so you no longer had to make another call.
There are currently over 350 million vehicles on the road that are based on the platform. Over 75 models were introduced last year alone.
