Android leads the tablet market

Almost all newly sold tablets now run on Android. In the first quarter of the year, 65,8 percent of tablets were delivered with Google's Android operating system, according to the Washington-based market research company Strategy Analytics.
This means that Android has given Apple's iPads a run for their money. In 2014, the share of Android devices in new sales was only 53 percent.
The iPad's share of tablets sold fell from 40,3 percent in the same quarter last year to 28,4 percent, explained Strategy Analytics. The market share of tablets with the Microsoft Windows operating system remained at 5,8 percent.
A total of 57,6 million tablets were sold worldwide in the first quarter.
