Last night Apple presented a total of three new smartphones in the Apple Park. Among them there are finally the two successors to the iPhone 7. We have all the specs, information and prices for the new iPhones.

After a few weeks full of rumors and leaks on the internet, Apple has finally let the cat out of the bag. Next to the iPhone X with a borderless display there are of course still two new successors. The iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus should bring some fundamental improvements in terms of battery and performance compared to their predecessor.

The outer

Let's start with the look. In terms of design, not much has changed since its predecessor, as it has been over the past few years. The home button with Touch ID is still on the front under the display. The display diagonal has not changed either. 4,7 inches in the standard version of the iPhone 8 and 5,5 inches in the Plus model. Only one thing is new for the first time: the front and back are now made entirely of glass. According to Apple, it should be the "most robust glass that has ever been built into a smartphone".

The inside: better performance and AR

Both models feature the new 6-core A11Proprocessor, which is said to be 25% faster than the A10. Apple baptizes this new one Proprocessor under the name "Bionic". As always, Apple does not give more details about the chip and RAM here. Incidentally, Apple has given the successors Bluetooth 5.0, which should increase the range of the signal by quite a bit. Simultaneously pairing with multiple devices via Bluetooth is not Problem more.

Augmented Reality was also a big topic. For this reason, two stereo speakers are installed in each of the two models, which should ensure the best possible sound experience. A 8-megapixel camera is built into the iPhone 12 for taking pictures and portraits. If you choose the more expensive model, a dual camera with an f1.8 and f2.8 aperture is part of the equipment.

The iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus can now be wireless

Another major innovation is wireless charging via QI. Thanks to the glass back, it is now possible to wirelessly charge both models using a charging station with the QI standard. Since the standard used worldwide is used here, it is also possible to charge the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus with a third-party charging station. Thus also a wireless Samsung charging station. Apropos battery: this should last 2 hours more than the previous iPhone 7. However, this is not meaningful, since this mainly depends on the use of the user.

In addition, "Air Power" should make it possible in the future to charge all Apple devices on a charging station at the same time. This ProHowever, the product is still under development - patience is required here.

Price: colors and release

The iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus come in the colors silver, gold and space gray. There are also two storage variants. In the 64GB variant, the two iPhones cost a proud 799 and 909 euros, respectively. If you need even more memory, you can use the 256GB version. For this you have to put 969 euros, or 1079 euros for the iPhone 8 Plus, on the table. Both models will be available for pre-order from September 15th and will be delivered from September 22nd.
