A battery case was already available for the iPhone 6 and the following models, which provides longer runtime. Now the same has been presented for the current iPhones under the name Apple Smart Battery Case.

The Smart Battery Case is available for all three current iPhones in black and white. 149 euros are due for this. The design remained the same compared to the previous case - again with a hump on the back. Support for Qi wireless charging is new. This means that the case and the iPhone can be charged wirelessly at the same time. Both components can also be charged at the same time via a cable.

Not compatible with iPhone X.

What is interesting is that the case for the iPhone XS is not officially compatible with the iPhone X. Even though both devices are the same size. But how much additional runtime do you get with the Smart Battery Cases? With the case for the XR you get up to 39 hours of talk time, 22 hours on the Internet and 27 hours of video playback on top. The Smart Battery Case for the iPhone XS offers 33 hours of talk time, 20 hours on the Internet and 25 hours of video playback. Finally, there is the charging case for the iPhone XS Max. This provides 37 hours of talk time, 20 hours of internet time and 25 hours of video playback. The new cases can be ordered from now on, so 9to5Mac. Orders should arrive on January 18th at the earliest.
