The Apple Watch is currently quite a unique smartwatch for its EKG functionality. One would like to go one step further this year and activate this function in other countries as well.

Since the Apple Watch Series 4 the Apple smartwatch can record full-fledged ECGs. There are also functions such as the automatic transmission of an emergency call in the event of a fall. Unfortunately, the functions mentioned are currently not yet available in Germany and Austria. A lack of certifications prevents the introduction of these functions in this country. With this year one would like to finally change that, as analyst Ming-Chi Kuo opposite MacRumors reported.

EKG planned outside the USA and a new case for the Apple Watch?

The function should be available in other countries this year. It is still unclear whether we can also count on the functions in this country. At least one is working on it. There will also be a design change for the Apple Watch this year. According to the analyst, the upcoming Smartwatch from Apple will again be available in a new ceramic case (see picture above; Series 3). With the latest Series 4, this was deleted after the introduction of the Series 2. This rumor points to a new, fresh ceramic design for the watch in 2019.
