Asus announces in a press release that the ZenFone 3 series will soon receive Android 7.0 Nougat. This affects users of the ZenFone 3, ZenFone 3 Deluxe, ZenFone 3 Laser and the ZenFone 3 Max. The update should follow soon in the second quarter.

These devices are currently still running with the predecessor Android Marshmallow. The smartphones have also been available from us since December. Asus has now announced in a press release that the devices will soon be equipped with an update to Android 7.0. This brings the features typical of Android 7 such as multi-window and extended energy-saving options. There are also nicer animations. The rollout should follow all of the devices mentioned between April and June 2017, with the exception of the ZenFone 3 Max.

Update for ZenFone 3 Max is coming later

The owners of a ZenFone 3 Max have to be patient a little longer. As is usually the case, high-end smartphones are the first to be supplied with updates. The cheapest version of the ZenFone 3, with a focus on a large battery, will only receive the update in the third quarter. According to this information, the update for the ZenFone 3 Max should follow between July and September.

There are currently no indications of an update to Android 2 Nougat for users of the ZenFone 7.0. Since these are still running on Android 5.0, no update should follow in the near future. In this overview we have briefly summarized again which devices receive the update to nougat.
