DB: Connected WiFi network for trains and stations

The user experience with DB's WiFi networks is often not particularly great. One big problem is that the connection is lost once you leave the train.
DB has announced that it wants to offer customers "seamless surfing" on trains and at stations starting this year. What does that mean? The status quo is that the WiFi connection is always lost when you move away from the train. The problem here is that a different network is implemented at a station than on the train.
The solution to this is a connected network that Deutsche Bahn is currently working on. Imagine it like this: There is an access point on the train that the end device connects to. If you get off, the connection to this point is lost. And so far there is no nearest access point in the same network at the station that would extend it. And that is exactly what Deutsche Bahn wants to achieve with this project.
The project is intended to be part of a major project in which the company wants to advance the digitalization of operations. Another project is the expansion of the antenna masts along the tracks.
