Google Pixel 5: Charging the smartphone activates "Battery sharing" automatically

A few weeks ago, Google launched the Pixel 5 vorgestellt. We too from TechnikNews are already working on a review of the new Google flagship. With the new smartphone, Google has come up with a pretty practical feature. The device automatically shares the battery as soon as it is plugged in.

The Google Pixel 5 can not only be charged wirelessly, it can also transfer its battery wirelessly. So-called "reverse charging" has been around for a long time with some manufacturers and smartphones - so not necessarily something new. However, searching for the setting is often a bit impractical if you want to charge your headphones or smartwatch wirelessly right away. If you plug the Google Pixel 5 into the charging cable via USB-C, the “share battery” feature is activated automatically for a short time.

The colleagues from 9to5Google have become aware of the practical function. So you don't have to switch to battery> “share battery” in the settings, but simply plug your Pixel 5 into the power supply and shortly afterwards place the device to be charged on the smartphone. The function does not stay activated forever - after a minute of inactivity, the battery parts are switched off again.

You cannot deactivate the automatic charging after plugging in, but you can turn it off manually in the settings. After plugging in, the controller for "share battery" is active in the settings. Just turn it off and you're done. Otherwise, the feature is automatically deactivated again when no more devices are charged on the back of the smartphone.

Another good tip: put the "reverse charge" feature in the quick access bar. Simply pull down the notification list, click on the pen and drag the "Share battery" tile into the selection of symbols. Complete!

Can I also activate the feature permanently? I don't want to go into the settings every time I want to charge my headphones ..
