As GalaxyClub reports, Samsung has started distributing the security update for October to the Galaxy A5 in 2016 and 2017. In addition, it should be a very important update that eliminates over 200 holes.

After the last software update in August with the monthly security patch, Samsung is skipping September for a more important month. To do this, the BlueBorn loophole, which enabled attacks via Bluetooth, is being closed in the major October update. In addition, the latest Google security patch from October was installed. Unfortunately, there are no new features or bug fixes in this update.

Update closes numerous gaps

Together with Google, Samsung closes around 220 gaps with the October update. There were five of them in Samsung's in-house software. While some users are still on the update Android 7.0 for the Galaxy A3 and J7 wait, Samsung has already released the security update for the A5 devices in the Netherlands. In addition, this update will only be distributed in Europe with a few weeks delay.

If you want to check now whether an update is available for your device, you can do so now. To do this, go to the “Software update” menu item in the smartphone settings. The update for other devices such as the S8 and Note 8 should follow in the coming weeks.
