Skullcandy today announced their "Skullcandy Dime" headphones. We were able to unpack the headphones and give them a first impression.

With the Skullcandy Dime, the US manufacturer also wants something from the budget TWS cake and is launching its new “Dime” model at affordable TWS.

Skullcandy Dime: Technical Specifications

The TWS deliver up to 12 hours of battery life, 3,5 hours of which with one charge and 8,5 hours with the case. The TWS are connected normally via Bluetooth, unfortunately there is no support for the Skullcandy app.

The TWS support the latest Bluetooth 5.0 standard and have built-in touch controls. This can be used to skip songs or activate the Google Assistant / Siri, for example.

The individual headphones can also be used in "single mode" and incoming calls can still be accepted. Although the TWS do not have an ANC, they proved to be good shielding in the first hands-on. The headphones are resistant to sweat and water. Only the charging case is still charged with micro USB, a no-go in 2021!

The headphones are available in the colors "dark blue / green, light gray / blue, dark gray and real black" for an RRP of 39,99 euros from today in stores.

Skullcandy Dime: First hands-on

Thanks to Skullcandy, I'm now testing the dime and I noticed a few things in my first hands-on:

Despite the low price, the scope of delivery includes a micro-USB cable (a very small one, but a cable) and two other pairs of ear tips. The set-up went quickly and on first hearing the TWS convinced for their price. You can hear a clear difference to expensive TWS, but the sound is respectable for the low price, especially the bass is good. But I cannot draw a full conclusion yet, I have to use the TWS for at least a week in everyday life. So this conclusion will follow later. The size is also positive, the TWS are very small and the case therefore fits in any trouser pocket. But the case feels cheap.
