With the ZV-1, Sony has presented a lightweight and compact “all-in-one” solution for vloggers. The ZV-1 was developed from the ground up for content creators and vloggers and is intended to combine user-friendliness with high image quality.

The ZV-1 comes with a stacked 1.0-type Exmor RS CMOS image sensor with DRAM chip and a large-aperture ZEISS Vario-Sonar T 24-70mm F1,8-2,8 lens. As a pictureproSony uses the BIONZ X in the ZV-1 Proprocessor of the latest generation with a front-end LSI, which is intended to ensure both high resolution and low noise and thus excellent image quality.

4K and internal image stabilization

Sony has installed a sensor in the ZV-1 that can be used to record 4K videos. The image stabilization of the ZV-1 should also be at a very high level again. Because optical and digital image stabilization are at least partially combined, the image stabilization should be eleven times better than the normal steady shot. The ZV-1 is also compatible with the GP-VPT2BT Bluetooth adapter. On the go, it should be able to be used as a tripod or as a wireless remote control. In the end, even more stable recordings are possible in combination with this recording handle.

New Vari-Angle folding display

Sony has built many features into the ZV-1 especially for vloggers. With the directional 3-capsule microphone, the camera makes high quality stereo sound recordings. Thanks to an integrated noise suppression and a supplied windscreen, noise or wind should hardly be heard in the recordings. However, if you want a little better audio quality, there is also a 3,5 mm input socket for external microphones on board. Thanks to the innovative vari-angle screen, the display can be folded down even if an external microphone is attached. In contrast to the folding screens in the RX100 or a6000 series, the vari-angle screen can be folded to the side.

Autofocus at a high level again

The new film AF for vlogging should also be practical. The Real-Time Eye-AF originally developed for the Alpha series of cameras with interchangeable lenses should be able to track subjects very quickly and precisely. The AI-based motif recognition technology is used for this, whereby eye information can be processed in real time and the camera can then focus precisely even when recording 4K videos.

Improved color management

Sony has also improved the color management of the ZV-1. The advanced color management is designed to optimize skin tones. For this, the camera creates a smooth and natural complexion, whereby the emphasis should be even more on the face. In the case of large changes in light, the camera always adjusts the exposure according to the face so that it is always perfectly exposed. This is particularly important when it comes to vlogging.

Another new feature is that you can easily switch between two bokeh levels with one button. When vlogging, depending on the situation, you can choose whether more or less of the background should be visible.
