"Stop Corona" app for Austria now with Apple and Google API
The new version of the “Stop Corona” app for Austria has been available since Friday morning. This now also works like that Corona warning app from Germany with the interfaces of Android and iOS for contact recording.
The Austrian app is not really gaining momentum yet: After initial discussions about the possibly mandatory use from political ranks, the trust of many users has been broken. The meaning behind it: As a user who subsequently tested Corona-positive, you can easily warn those people who you have been close to in the last 14 days. It is precisely these contacts that the app should record.

Initially, the Red Cross app relied on its own technology for recording contacts - although the automatic "handshake" did not work on Apple devices. Meanwhile, Apple and Google have common interfaces for communication with each other veröffentlicht. This is now included with the latest version of the app, which means that contact recording should also work better in standby mode and otherwise in general.
In addition, the app no longer shows which IDs (i.e. users, represented as randomly generated numbers) you have encountered - for data protection reasons. The country restriction is also gone. Users from Germany and other EU countries can now install the Austrian app on their smartphone from the Play Store or App Store.
The app has been open source for a few weeks now - anyone interested can use the Code on Github read through more closely.
