EZVIZ C6 AI indoor camera in test: What can the smart surveillance camera do?

Some time ago, EZVIZ introduced the C6 indoor camera with artificial intelligence. I found out what features it has and whether it is worth buying in my detailed test.
EZVIZ, which is best known for its smart home products, has launched the C6, a stylish and compact camera with artificial intelligence. It scores points above all with its design and range of functions. You can read below whether it is worth buying and what the camera can do.

tl; dr
EZVIZ has launched a really good smart home camera with the C6. Overall, I really liked it review. Setting it up was very simple and straightforward. The camera looks very modern and stylish, which means it can be easily integrated into living spaces. I really liked the quality of the recordings, as they offer decent sharpness and sufficiently good colors and contrasts. I also liked the app, as it has some useful features and is well structured. The person detection always worked very reliably. Only the price is a bit high, but should come down soon, as the successor to the C6, the C7, is already on the market. Nevertheless, the C6 convinced me review.
Unboxing & scope of delivery
The EZVIZ C6 comes in a simple white box that shows the camera and its most important functions. The scope of delivery is also relatively unspectacular. In addition to the camera itself and the usual paperwork, a power supply, a micro USB cable and a bracket for optional permanent installation, for example on a wall, are included. Dowels for the drill holes and screws for fastening are also included.
Installation & Setup
After unboxing, you should first find a suitable location for the camera and then set it up and connect it to the power supply. If you decide to screw it in, you should do this first. Next, you should download the free EZVIZ app and then set up the camera using it. The setup is pretty well designed and is easy to follow, step by step.
Design & processing
I really like the design of the C6. The camera housing can rotate and is made almost entirely of matte white plastic, which is only interrupted by a recess for the movable camera lens. This is made of black plastic, which is also matte. If you put the camera in private mode, the camera moves into the housing and a sleeping smiley appears on the recess. The SD card slot, which is protected by a rubber cap, also appears. The power connection is on the back. Unfortunately, this is a micro-USB connection, which is quite old and should definitely have been replaced by the newer USB-C connection in 2024. I liked the workmanship. Nothing creaks or feels wobbly and the camera is always nice and quiet when you change its position.
Specs
EZVIZ uses a moving image sensor with a 6k+ resolution in the C2. This is supported by an infrared sensor, which ensures significantly better night vision. The video quality of the camera during the day leaves nothing to be desired and is completely sufficient. Videos are recorded at a maximum of 25 fps and 1440 × 2560 pixels. At night, the recordings are significantly worse, but still usable. The camera is also equipped with a loudspeaker and a microphone, so that you can always hear everything clearly in the recordings and, thanks to 2-way communication, you can talk to a person on the phone via the camera. Thanks to the loudspeaker, the camera also has a siren function that can be activated by a recognized person in armed mode. Unfortunately, the WiFi connection was not always so stable and sometimes broke off for several hours, which I found quite a shame.
AI features and person recognition
Some new cameras can not only record videos and detect movements, but also do much more, including the C6. In addition to classic motion detection, it can also distinguish between people and animals or react to certain noises. If the camera is then armed, it recognizes the person or animal, for example, and zooms in on them. At the same time, it independently controls its rotating axes to always keep the object in the picture. The camera can also recognize a hand gesture, which allows you to start a call with the app with a simple wave.
EZVIZ App & Smart Home
Of course, the C6 also offers an app that can be used to manage and control the camera. It offers countless setting options and some cool features. On the home page, you can see all of your cameras with live video. If you then click on the camera, you can rotate it, put it into private mode or take pictures and videos. You can also change the image quality and of course view all current videos and save them if necessary. If you have inserted an SD card into the camera, you can also save all recordings there and view them via the app. Overall, I really liked the app. It offers many functions and is clearly laid out. I also like the fact that the C6 can be integrated into both Google Home and Alexa, which I did.

Prices & Availability
The EZVIZ C6 has a recommended retail price of just under 100 euros, but it doesn't cost more than that. The current street price is around 80 euros, although you can easily get it on offer for around 60 euros. In the near future, however, it should become a little cheaper, as the successor is already in the starting blocks. I think the price is a little high for what it offers, but it's still OK, as you get a lot for it. You can buy the C6 at all common electronics stores such as Amazon or Tink.
