Auf dem Event on October 2nd In addition to the new Surface convertibles, Microsoft also presented the “Your Phone” app. This should make it possible to control the smartphone via the Windows 10 PC. I've already seen how it works.

To be able to use the new tool, you first need a Windows PC with version 1809. If you want to know whether you already have this version on your device, you can do this under Settings and the items "System" and " Check Info ”. You also need an Android smartphone with the companion app linked below. It is also important that the phone is connected to a WiFi network. The companion application just mentioned does not seem to exist for iOS. However, I was able to find an alternative, which I also linked below.

Now you have to log into the app on the smartphone and on the PC with your Microsoft account. In my case, after this step, the setup was complete. If the Microsoft Launcher has not yet been installed on the smartphone, you still have to do this.

Few features at the moment

After the setup, only applications and services from Microsoft that you might want to use are displayed in the app on the smartphone. So I closed the app on my phone and went to my laptop and opened the "Your Phone" app. Only two tabs appeared there: One to view all the photos on the smartphone and save them on the PC, and one to write SMS. That's it.

However, app mirroring is to be integrated in the future. All apps installed on the smartphone are then displayed in a separate tab. These should then be able to be operated in a separate window. I also hope that the app will receive some performance improvements - there are currently still a lot of stuttering.
