Android 17: Leak suggests extensive “Liquid Glass” effects

Google is apparently planning a visual overhaul for Android 17. New leaks show increased integration of blur effects and transparencies, further developing the existing Material 3 design towards a more glassy aesthetic.
Focus on transparency and blur effects
While Google already introduced subtle transparencies with the "Material 3 Expressive" update in Android 16, Android 17 appears to be massively expanding the use of blurring effects. According to information from Android Authority Leaks from Telegram users @jspirit and @romashka show an internal build of the operating system with a user interface that focuses heavily on visual depth.

This look, often referred to as "Liquid Glass", is reminiscent of design choices made by Apple or other Android OEMs, but is integrated more deeply into the system framework by Google.
Android 17: "Blur" effect throughout the entire system
The screenshots provided from early developer builds illustrate that the transparency effects are no longer limited to the notification bar.
Volume menu: Both the pop-up slider and the full menu now use strong background blurring.
Power menu: The menu for turning off or restarting the device is also displayed translucently.
System dialogs: Pop-ups and smaller UI elements adapt to the new glass look to achieve a more consistent depth effect.
An official version of Android 17 is expected within the first few weeks; the system will then be officially presented at Google I/O, which typically takes place in May.
