Cancellation of exclusive digital publication
CEO Strauss Zelnick paid particular attention to the speculation surrounding distribution channels. Recent reports suggested that Take-Two intended to hold off on releasing the physical disc until 2027 to prevent potential story leaks caused by early retail releases.
In an interview with Variety Zelnick responded clearly to the question of whether Rockstar planned a purely digital release at launch: This is "not the plan." This confirms that the boxed version will be released in stores alongside the digital version.
Focus on manual work instead of generative AI
gegenüber gamesindustry.biz Zelnick emphasized the technological philosophy behind the development. He clarified that generative AI played no part in creating the game world of GTA 6. While many studios are increasingly relying on proWhile Rockstar Games has abandoned cedural generation to save costs and time, they are sticking to a completely manual process. According to Zelnick, the environments are handcrafted from scratch, "building by building, street by street, and district by district." This reliance on automated processes is the key differentiator that guarantees the quality of the player experience.
A PC release is still uncertain; the game – if it does indeed come out in November – will so far only be available on Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
