HoT: 5G tariffs will start in Austria at the beginning of 2024

HoT, also Hofer Telekom, is an Austrian mobile phone provider in the Magenta network. This means that you do not operate your own mobile network, but act as an “MVNO” as a subtenant in its network. At the moment there are 1,35 million customers. Now the Ventocom boss has announced details for the first time as to when 5G will start in Austria at HoT.
In a nutshell: In an interview with “THE STANDARD“The boss is talking about the start of 5G tariffs in the HoT portfolio for the first time. Only recently did mobile operators have functions for better voice quality, for example Volta and WiFi calls enabled. With the latter you can make phone calls with good quality even without reception in the WLAN network. Krammer speaks of a start “at the beginning of 2024 at the latest” at “competitive prices”.

Better or cheaper, for all customers
HoT’s recipe for success – there are no price increases, commitments or flat-rate service fees. All customers also receive the highest priority in Magenta's network, i.e. always the highest available speed. Despite inflation, the mobile operator has the motto “better or cheaper“No tariff increases at all – it does increase, but only the data volume. Launched in January 2015 with 1.000 minutes or SMS and 3.000 MB of data volume with “HoT fix”, it now offers 40.000 MB of data volume for 9,90 euros per month.
HoT uses Hofer's branch network to sell the tariffs locally - and also offers them online. This is convincing - Ventocom boss Krammer spoke to “DER STANDARD” about over 1,35 million customers at Hofer Telekom. The next step should follow at the beginning of 2024 and 5G will be offered at HoT for the first time. It was not clear from the interview whether all customers' tariffs will automatically be switched to 5G. However, a look back shows that LTE was activated for everyone a few years ago without becoming more expensive.
