Apple Smart Battery Case probably works with the iPhone X after all
Apple introduced this week new Smart Battery Cases for the current iPhones. And although the iPhone X is the same size as the iPhone XS, the accompanying Smart Battery Case is not officially compatible with the X. The loading apparently works anyway.
I have summarized all the exact information about the new Smart Battery Cases in the article linked above. There I also mentioned that it's weird that the model for the iPhone XS is officially not compatible with the iPhone X - even though both smartphones are the same size. This surprised Rene Ritchie from the Mobile Nations. He then attached the case for the iPhone XS to the iPhone X and reported on his experiences on Twitter.
Deleting tweet because iPhone XS / Max battery case * is * working for iPhone X for some people, but I'm getting inconsistent enough results with iOS 12.1.3 that it's going to take some time to figure out exactly what works and what doesn ' t.
Sincere apologies for bad test / tweet. pic.twitter.com/EQJjqzz8kK

Ok, here's the? correct info:
You CAN use iPhone XS battery case with iPhone X. You may get that incompatibility pop up. But, if you dismiss it, it should charge fine. (Update iOS / reboot if not.)

At first nothing happened on the iPhone X. Only a message appeared stating that this accessory is not supported by the current device. That ProThe problem here was apparently that Rene Ritchie's iPhone X hadn't yet had the update to iOS 12.1.3. According to him, you may still not always get consistent results, even with the update. In principle, however, charging is possible. The only downside: the cutouts for speakers and microphones don't perfectly match their positions on the iPhone X.
