Galaxy S9 (Plus): Android Pie update causes battery problems

Just in time for Christmas, Samsung released Android Pie with the One UI user interface for Galaxy S9 (Plus) users. Now, less than a week later, some users are writing about problems with the battery.

On some devices, the battery level drops from 10 percent to 5 percent in just a few seconds. Abhijeet Mishra from SamMobile noticed this, and some readers confirmed this observation in the comments to the article. Interestingly, there are no similar problems when the battery level is above 10 percent. Not even when an app or process is using a lot of battery. It is currently unclear what causes this phenomenon.

What's strange, however, is that some users report that the battery life has improved by up to 20 percent with the update to Android Pie. A factory reset is said to help with affected smartphones. Or you can wait until Samsung releases an update with a bug fix.
