Google Pay: Proproblems with Android Q Beta 3
Within the Google I/O Google published the third beta of Android Q. This causes some Proproblem when paying with Google Pay.
Android Police writes that Google Pay is not working properly with the third beta of the upcoming Android version. This refers to a Reddit user who reported an error message when setting up Tap-To-Pay. According to the report, the smartphone has been rooted or modified, which affects this functionality.
As it turns out, it's a Proproblem with SafetyNet. This is Google's software that finds out whether a device has been rooted or not. Nobody knows why this is so, since the Redditer's device was not actually rooted. There was a similar one in the fourth Android Pie developer preview Proproblem, which Google fixed until the final release. So I am confident that this will be the case again this year.
Hallo,
maybe it's not the beta at all. I have a Nokia 7 Plus with the latest Android 9 and since yesterday I have basically stopped paying with Google Pay (stored PayPal account). NFC is switched on, of course, but nothing happens when you try to pay at the checkout terminal (Lidl, Netto and Norma). No peep, no error message, just nothing. I tried restarting the smartphone, clearing the cache of the PayPal and the Google Pay app. No improvement.
Sincerely,
Torsten Holz
Good evening Torsten,
I do believe that the Q-Beta is to blame, as there is a separate error message in Google Pay that you don't seem to have (see screenshot). Nevertheless, thank you for your comment!
