Last month we had over that first official leak reported on the Google Pixel 4. Google has now revealed details again. The new flagship should come with "Motion Sense" and "Face Unlock".

It seems like Google doesn't mind knowing details about the Google Pixel 4 in advance. So one has Just reveal it in the Google Blogwhat will be two new features. So it will be a kind of gesture control with the "Soli" radar, together with face recognition. The second should work better than any other smartphone. Radar is the same technology used to detect airplanes and other objects. "Soli" have been worked on for five years - now the radar should also be ready for the smartphone.

"Motion Sense": Pixel 4 with hand gesture control

With the hand gesture control, it should be possible to operate the smartphone with gestures from further away. For example, you can swipe left or right with the palm of your hand to switch a song forwards or backwards in Spotify. It should also be possible to deactivate alarms or mute calls. Over time, they want to add more functions. However, "Motion Sense" will only be available in selected countries.

Unlock Pixel 4 faster with Face Unlock

In addition to gesture control - which may only really make sense in the car - another function has been announced. Here, too, the built-in Soli radar is used to recognize the face. According to Google, this should work better than ever and also work the fastest. If you pick up the smartphone, the Soli sensor should switch on immediately and begin to recognize the face. Thus, the smartphone should be unlocked while it is being lifted. It shouldn't matter whether you unlock something at an angle or in the dark. In addition, the radar should also be able to unlock the smartphone, even if it is on the display. This could be used for paying with the smartphone, for example.

A test will then have to clarify how well this works. The predecessor Pixel 3 XL we have already tested it here on the blog.

Here are all the leaks about the Google Pixel 4.
