As part of the MWC 2017 in Barcelona, Huawei presented two new smartphones: the Huawei P10 and P10 Plus. Photography is said to play an even bigger role in the two models. For the camera, Huawei continues to rely on the dual camera from Leica.

From now on, the dual camera is not only reserved for the Plus or Mate series from Huawei. Now all future smartphones from Huawei are to be equipped with a dual camera. As with its predecessors, Huawei continues to rely on Leica technology. In the Huawei P10 and P10 Plus, the camera is called Leica Pro Version 2.0. Now the monochrome sensor takes the picture with 20 megapixels, the color sensor takes the picture with 12 megapixels.

Technical details of the Huawei P10

The display of the Huawei P10 is 5,1 inches and has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. The P10 comes with the in-house Kirin 960 and 4GB of RAM. The internal memory has space for 64 gigabytes. This can be easily expanded using a microSD card. The Mate 9 had exactly the same features. The two rear cameras each have a resolution of 20 and 12 megapixels. The selfie camera takes pictures with 8 megapixels. Both cameras support hybrid AF, OIS and record videos in 4K. The Huawei P10 is dust and waterproof with certification IP68.

The battery comes with a capacity of 3200mAh. As with the Mate 9, it supports the "Huawei Speed Charge" fast charging technology. The design has also become cleaner: the fingerprint sensor now moves from the back to the front of the home button. The back is therefore only decorated with the two cameras and the Huawei logo. The back has been specially treated (Huawei calls it "diamond cut") and is intended to give the user a special feel. For the software, Huawei relies on Android 7.1 and the "EMUI" user interface. The P10 is available in the colors Greenery, Mystic Silver and Graphite Black. The diamond-cut back is reserved for models in Dazzling Blue and Prestige Gold. There is also a suitable, pre-installed theme for each color.

Technical details about the Huawei P10 Plus

In addition to the Huawei P10, the group presented the larger Huawei P2017 Plus model at MWC 10. The 5,5-inch display offers a better resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. The Kirin 960 octa-core chip with a working memory of 6 gigabytes and an internal memory of 256GB is installed. This can be easily expanded with a microSD card. The camera on the Huawei P10 Plus with 20, 12 and 8 megapixels is identical to the P10. The P10 Plus is also protected against dust and water in accordance with IP86. The battery of the Huawei P10 Plus has a capacity of 3750 mAh. This also supports the Huawei fast charging technology.

There is also the feature known from the Huawei Mate 9 called "Knuckle". With this, the smartphone can be woken up by knocking on the display. With this feature it is also possible to share the display with your ankle ("multi-window") or to cut out an area on the display and save it as a screenshot. Even if the fingerprint sensor is no longer on the back, it is still possible to carry out gestures. These include: navigating the gallery or rejecting alarms and calls. The P10 Plus is available in the colors Greenery, Mystic Silver and Graphite Black. The diamond-cut back is reserved for models in Dazzling Blue and Prestige Gold. As with the P10, there is a suitable theme for every color.

The P10 definitely sounds interesting. However, the price is far too high.
