For a few days now, the Huawei P10 Lite has been appearing again and again from cell phone providers. Now Huawei has officially presented the slimmed-down offshoot, the Huawei P10. Still, it's bigger than the normal P10.

There has been speculation for some time that Huawei will soon be introducing the P10 Lite. Now the time has come: it has a worse battery, a weaker one Processor and a worse camera than that Huawei P10, but offers a larger display. I am also uncertain why this is so.

Weaker hardware, but bigger than the Huawei P10

The Huawei P10 Lite comes with a 5,1 inch display and is therefore 0,1 inch larger than the P10. So far, the Lite version has always been a lot smaller than the larger model. In comparison, the Huawei P10 is generally small: it offers the same display diagonal as that of the P9 Lite, for example. But now back to the P10 Lite. This comes with a display resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and a pixel density of 423 ppi (pixel pro Customs service).

Inside, the Kirin 658 with eight cores is responsible for the performance of the Huawei P10 Lite. In addition, he has 4GB of RAM at his side. The internal memory offers space of up to 32 gigabytes, but can be expanded up to 128 GB using a microSD card. When it comes to software, Huawei uses Android 7.0 Nougat and the EMUI 5.1 user interface in an exemplary manner.

Although Huawei has versproIt is thought that all future smartphones will be equipped with a dual camera, but this is not the case with the P10 Lite. This comes with a basic camera with a resolution of 12 megapixels. The front camera shoots selfies with 8 megapixels. In addition, this offers a bokeh effect, which emphasizes the face from the background.

Compared to its brother, the Huawei P10 Lite has a fingerprint sensor on the back. In the case of the Huawei P10, this is the first time it is in the front. With this fingerprint sensor you can scroll through the gallery, take calls and take photos.

The battery of the weaker model has a capacity of 3000mAh, which can be recharged quickly using the Huawei Speed-Charge. A special technology called “Smart Power-Saving 5.0” is now also installed, which is intended to extend the battery life.

Price and availability

The smaller offshoot Huawei P10 Lite will be available from the beginning of April in black, white, gold and blue. Huawei also calls these colors "Midnight Black, Pearl White, Platinum Gold and Sapphire Blue". The colors Greenery and Mystic Silver are only available from Huawei P10 and Huawei P10 Plus. Last but not least, it should be mentioned that the manufacturer's RRP is just under 350 euros.
