Lenovo's subsidiary, Motorola, is working on a Motorola Edge 30 Ultra for 2021/22. We have only the first information.

The device is managed internally under the name “Rogue”, for external companies the code name is “HiPhi”. It is being developed under the model number “XT-2201”.

We now have the exclusive technical data of the smartphone, thanks to a source who is familiar with the company's plans but wants to remain anonymous.

Motorola Edge 30 Ultra: Proprocessor and cameras

As the ProThe next flagship SoC from Qualcomm will be used, which is being developed by Qualcomm under the SM8450 and is codenamed “taro”. The display of the Motorola Edge 30 Ultra is 6,67″ and has a Full HD+ resolution, the maximum refresh rate is 144 Hertz. Other technical data for the display are HDR 10+ and OLED. The device will come in two RAM versions, 8 and 12 gigabytes of LPDDR5 RAM. The internal storage is 128 or 256 gigabytes of UFS 3.1 storage. This storage will not be expandable.

The camera setup of the Motorola Edge 30 Ultra consists of three cameras on the back and a front camera. The wide angle has a resolution of 50 megapixels and is OIS stabilized. The same sensor (OV50A) was also used in Huawei's P50 series. The second sensor is Samsung's new JN1 50 megapixel sensor, which is probably used for ultra-wide-angle photos. Because the sensor for depth information is a 2 megapixel sensor (OV02B1B), which was already used as such in the Motorola Defy. The company attaches particular importance to the front camera, Motorola has installed a 60 megapixel camera for selfies and 4K videos in the punch hole.

Motorola Edge 30 Ultra: Battery and Connectivity

The battery of the device is 5000 mAh and is recharged with a brisk 68 watts (via USB 3.1 Gen 1). The company is aiming for 100% battery charge in less than 35 minutes, 50% should be charged in less than 15 minutes. That would be a big leap compared to Edge 20 series. However, wireless charging is still not possible, and neither is reverse charging. The device should be made from a mixture of glass and plastic. In Europe, a Google Assistant button is again attached to the device, there is no headphone jack.

Motorola has had the device IP certified, according to level IP52. So it is not completely dust and water proof. Stereo speakers for audio playback are available. In addition, the device has three microphones for making phone calls, as well as one on the back for the “audio zoom” feature of the camera. WLAN 6, 5G (Sub 6) and Bluetooth 5.2 are installed in terms of conductivities, and Android 12 (S) is preinstalled as a system.

The device will first appear in China in December (probably under the name "Motorola Edge X", which is already being teased by the company), followed by the global release of the Edge 30 series in January. In China the device will get an OS update to Android 13, outside we will get the usual 2 OS updates. Yes, the 68 watt charger will be included. We do not yet have a price or press photos.
