Motorola Edge and Edge + officially presented: mid-range and high-end smartphone
For a few weeks there have been indications of an upcoming Motorola Edge. Together with this, a plus model was released today, but this will not come to us for the time being. We look at the most important details.
Somehow Motorola has never really been able to win the important shares in the smartphone market. Though you can with the latter motorola razr has presented an exciting device - no other real flagship has yet been found. That should change now, because with the Motorola Edge and Edge + you want to attack again.
Motorola Edge and Edge +: Details and Specs
The two smartphones basically agree on the key points: display and some camera. But that was it again - otherwise there are many differences between the two brothers.
Both devices come with a 6,67-inch display with 90 Hz and a Full HD+ resolution, which is 2.340 x 1.080 pixels. Inside you put the Proprocessor of the Motorola Edge on the Snapdragon 765G, on the Plus model on a current Snapdragon 865. In terms of working memory and internal memory, the Edge has 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of memory, the more expensive model has double that, i.e. 12 GB/256 GB.
The biggest differences are with the camera. The triple camera of the cheaper model has a resolution of 64 MP (f / 1.8, wide-angle), 8 MP (f / 2.4, telephoto 3x optical) and 16 MP (f / 2.2, ultra-wide-angle) on the back. The front camera comes with 25 megapixel resolution at f / 2.0. With the Edge + you increase: So there is the same constellation, only with more megapixels for the main camera - more precisely 108 MP at f / 1.7.
The battery is set to 4.500 mAh or 5.000 mAh for the Plus model. The operating system will be Android 10, together with the new "My UX" interface, which will probably be based on numerous points on Stock Android and will get along without a lot of bloatware.
As an extra there is 5G, wireless charging, FM radio, stereo speakers and an in-display fingerprint sensor, there is also an IP certification for both models - namely IP52. In addition, reverse charging is also possible with the more expensive Edge +. So it seems to give significantly more plus points for the Edge + - if it weren't for another point:
Update on April 30th: Motorola has made it clear that this is not about IP certifications, but the devices are still water-repellent.
Motorola Edge from May, Edge + not with us for the time being
Unfortunately, Motorola is not starting with the entire Edge series, but only with the cheapest model for the time being. It's a shame, because you have "only" one mid-range device in the race again, with the Edge + you could have scored significantly more points. The Edge will be available from May in Germany, Austria and Switzerland at a price of 599,99. In terms of color, they currently only offer black. Despite the comparatively low price, you will ultimately need the Edge + in order to be able to fully attack - that will not be enough with the normal Edge. However, this then costs 1.099 euros.
