Parallel to the Paris Motor Show 2024, Sonos presented the Sonos Arc Ultra and the Sub 4. We summarize what these are all about here.
Sonos has recently had to deal with many criticisms of its redesigned app, which was introduced last AprilThis also meant that product presentations were based on the Sonos Ace But now the biggest problems seem to have been resolved, as last week Sonos introduced successors to its top soundbar and subwoofer.
Sonos Arc Ultra
The Arc Ultra makes significant leaps in sound design, as it supports 9.1.4 Dolby Atmos without additional speakers. This simply means that the soundbar can handle nine channels at ear level, a subwoofer and four height channels completely independently. This is made possible by the "Sound Motion" woofer developed by Sonos, which delivers powerful sound and precise bass reproduction. This woofer is supported by seven tweeters and six midrange speakers. The 3D audio is also said to be better than its predecessor.
Despite the multitude of components inside, Sonos managed to reduce the depth and height of the soundbar.

There are also two points worth mentioning on the software side. The speech enhancement in the Arc Ultra comes with several control options, which are particularly useful for people with hearing impairments. proIn addition, Trueplay, the feature for adapting the sound to the room, is now faster and now also works with Android.
Sonos Sub 4
For an even more cinema-like experience, Sonos now offers the Sub 4. The subwoofer has a new processor that speeds up communication between individual components in the home cinema system and improves bass reproduction. There have been no major visual changes. The only update here is that the surface of the housing, which is available in black and white, is now matte.

The device is compatible with the Arc, Arc Ultra, the Beam, the It was 300, the It was 100 and the Five. Compatibility with the One and One SL is no longer guaranteed. However, the product will now receive software updates for several years.
