Sonos Roam SL introduced: A Sonos Roam without a voice assistant
Sonos just announced the Sonos Roam SL. This is a cheaper variant of the Roam, which comes without a voice assistant. You need to know that.
The Roam SL is a cheaper version of the one I tested Sonos roam. Despite the lower price tag, both models share many features and characteristics. The new model can be connected to other Sonos speakers via WiFi or controlled via AirPlay 2. As an alternative, the manufacturer integrated Bluetooth again.
In addition, the Roam SL is battery operated, which means that it no longer stands in the way of use on the go. There is also an IP67 certification, which makes the speaker waterproof and dustproof.
The only difference: no smart assistant
The appearance of the speaker does not differ in any detail from last year's model. So the speaker is still very compact, with control buttons on the top and a charging port and function button on the back. Only the button for calling up a language assistant is missing, so the Roam SL comes without Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa.
Sonos Roam SL Pricing and Availability
The market launch of the Roam SL is scheduled for March 15th. The manufacturer demands an RRP of 179 euros for it.
