Recently, Spotify has been hosting some virtual concerts. According to a report, the service intends to increasingly enter this business in the future and also sell tickets for live concerts.

The fact that the corona pandemic also caused great damage in the music industry should not be alien to anyone. The fact that no concerts could take place lost a large source of income for many artists. Some saw the advantages of the modern internet and streamed their appearances for paying customers.

Spotify proate that too. In the last two months, they have teamed up with some musicians to broadcast their performances. The tickets were sold separately, i.e. in addition to the monthly subscription fees incurred for using the streaming service. Spotify could expand the whole thing in the future.

Spotify: online and live concerts

For the time being, Spotify should focus on the virtual events. Here one would like to support artists to plan the events properly and also to host them. Organizing live performances is also being discussed, but it is not yet entirely certain. That would also be logical, since such events are currently only possible to a limited extent.

Economically, that would also make a lot of sense. Not only does this open up an additional source of income for the music streaming service, it also improves the relationship with the individual musicians. And besides: It differs a little more from the biggest competitor, namely Apple Music. The Apple Music Festival, a comparable offer, has not existed since 2017.

It's good to see that Spotify appears to be planning such an expansion of its offering. Not only proif you fit it yourself, you also support the artists in times of the pandemic.
