Surface Buds: competition for the AirPods?

With the Surface Headphones Microsoft has had pretty great success. Are the people of Redmond now entering the in-ear business?

Thurrott claims to have heard from people familiar with the company's plans that Microsoft is working on true wireless style in-ear headphones. It is currently assumed that these are called Surface Buds, although there is a possibility that they will be presented under a different name. The code name for the developments is "Morrison".

Release later this year?

Thurrott does not reveal that yet, as delays or cancellations can always occur, as we only recently at AirPower saw. The fact that the Surface Buds will come onto the market this year cannot be ruled out.

It is also not really known what the in-ears will be able to do. However, support for the voice assistant Cortana and suppression of ambient noise can be expected. Thurrott also speaks of a feature that "facilitates the interaction between smartphone and ear-buds". What we can imagine by this remains unknown for the time being.
