Twitter down: Thousands of users are reporting disruptions to the service

The social media portal Twitter has been down for several minutes. Thousands of users are reporting problems with the service on portals such as “Downdetector” and various other sites.
Twitter down: What to do?
The outages currently appear to be affecting parts of the US and Europe. There also appear to be problems in Sweden, France, Greece and small parts of Finland and Spain. Therefore, the problem appears to be widespread.
Currently there is no option other than to wait. Other services such as Facebook have not yet made any statement about the server problem. However, websites such as Alle Störungs show reports from thousands of users in Germany and Austria. Some users have already tried unsuccessfully to reinstall the app or log in again. These measures have also not helped.
