Twitter is lifting the character limit for direct messages

Previously only 140 characters were possible - now up to 10.000 characters are possible. Twitter now officially lifts the character limit for private messages. The service now also wants to move towards a messenger alternative.
Twitter is well known for its 140 character limit. Nevertheless, it was annoying when you could only write 140 characters in a direct message - you always had to be very creative and only put the most important things into one message. Like Twitter now in official blog reported, this limit is now being raised from 140 to 10 characters. This is intended to be an approach towards messengers, as an alternative to the other well-known messengers. "Say your opinion," as Twitter product manager Sachin Agarwal now reports in the entry: with these new 000 characters, you should be able to communicate even better in private chats and report on current events in the world. Unfortunately, anyone who tweets something officially will have to continue to be satisfied with the 10-character limit, or switch to other social networks. The function is already available in the current Twitter app - it will follow for the browser shortly.
