Withings Sleep: Gadget now detects breathing disorders
The Withings Sleep has been available for a while now. The gadget received recognition of breathing disorders during sleep via a firmware update.
If you update the Withings “Health Mate” app as a buyer of a Withings Sleep, a firmware update will activate the feature for detecting “sleep-related breathing disorders”. This goes hand in hand with the fact that the device can now diagnose sleep apnea.
What do you need that for?
Sleep-disordered breathing isn't inherently bad. However, if they occur frequently, they can be a sign of sleep apnea. These usually remain undetected, as they have not been able to be identified without clinical apparatus. They can also have more serious consequences, including fatigue, depression or cardiovascularProtrouble. By the end of the year, Withings wants to get medical certification for detecting sleep apnea. The Withings Sleep currently costs 99,95 euros.
