WWDC 2019: These devices get iOS 13, iPadOS, watchOS 6 and macOS 10.15 Catalina
Found that on Monday evening Main event WWDC 2019 took place, where Apple showed iOS 13, among other things. Now the question is: which devices will get the new versions?
The developer betas for the individual software innovations have been available since Monday. For everyone else, the public betas, which Apple distributes using the OTA (Over The Air) process, will follow in the summer. The final versions will be released in autumn. For example, iOS 13 is already running on the next iPhones.

iOS 13
iOS 13 now only runs on iPhones. The company is submitting a new iPadOS for the iPads. One of the biggest innovations in the latest version of the OS is the dark mode. This can be activated via the control center or fixed times for activation can be set. There are also other innovations when enjoying music. A feature was introduced that allows the current playback to be shared with other iPhone users in the vicinity. And these Apple smartphones get the new software:
- iPhone XS (Max)
- iPhone XR
- iPhone X
- iPhone 8 Plus
- iPhone 7 Plus
- iPhone 6s (Plus)
- iPhone SE
- iPod touch (7th generation)
iPadOS
iPadOS replaces iOS on the iPad and comes with some features that stand out Pro-Users have been wanting for a long time. These things include better file management and improved multitasking, among others. Control via a computer mouse is also supported. iOS 13 dark mode can also be found in iPadOS. When the software launches in the fall, they'll get these iPads:
- iPad Pro (2018, 12,9″ and 11″)
- iPad Pro (2017, 10,5″ and 9,7″)
- iPad 6
- iPad 5
- iPad mini 5
- iPad mini 4
- iPad Air 3
- iPad Air 2
Watch 6
With watchOS 6, the Apple Watch has its own app store, making it more independent from the iPhone. In addition, there is now its own book, memo and calculator app on the smart watch from Apple. As was the case in previous years, this year there are again new dials and bracelets. To use watchOS 6, you need an iPhone and one of the following Apple Watch models:
- Apple Watch Series 1
- Apple Watch Series 2
- Apple Watch Series 3
- Apple Watch Series 4
macOS 10.15 Catalina
The introduction of macOS 10.15 Catalina brought about the discontinuation of musicprogram iTunes with you. Instead, there are three new apps called Music, Podcasts, and TV that are meant to replace iTunes. The software also introduced a feature called "Sidecar," which allows mirroring the Mac's screen to an iPad. Pretty much every conceivable Mac will get macOS 10.15 Catalina this fall:
- MacBook (12 inch)
- MacBook Air (2012 and up)
- MacBook Pro (2012 and up)
- Mac mini (2012 and up)
- Mac Pro (2013 and up)
