Xbox at E3 at a glance: cloud gaming, Game Pass Ultimate, Elite Series 2 controller, new games

(Post picture: © 2019 Xbox)

The Microsoft event took place at E3 yesterday. In addition to the new Xbox generation Proproject Scarlett there was some more news to be seen. A cloud gaming service, a new game pass, a fresh controller and some new games have now been shown.

Every year, various manufacturers show their innovations at E3, the largest video and games trade fair. Microsoft also took advantage of this year and presented numerous surprises in the Xbox gaming division. Some things were already known in advance, but now everything is officially confirmed. We go through the most important highlights at a glance.

cloud gaming with Project xCloud

Microsoft has been working on a cloud gaming service in its Xbox division for a long time. At this event, you now have a little more detail about what's to come Proreveal the project – but still not reveal much about it. With xCloud you shouldn't play directly in the cloud on an Xbox console in the cloud, but on your own console. So you will be able to stream games from the console to your smartphone or other device. With console streaming, you also have access to your entire game library - and play on your own console.

There should also be a second variant. In addition to console streaming, games should also be able to be played directly in the cloud on a remote Xbox console. It already seems to be working: visitors to E3 were able to stream titles such as “Halo 5: Guardians” and “Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice” from the cloud to their smartphones and tablets.

Game Pass Ultimate and Game Pass for PC

Every console player is probably familiar with the Xbox Game Pass. Here you have access to over 100 games and with a membership all first party titles can be played directly from the release - all without additional costs. The subscription costs 9,99 euros pro Month and only offers access to games, otherwise no other extras. New games have been announced for the Game Pass for the console, which are now available, including "Metro Exodus", "Hollow Knight: Voidheart Edition", "Borderlands: The Handsome Collection" or "Batman: Arkham Knight".

Yesterday they showed the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate - this combines the Xbox Game Pass and a Live Gold membership at a lower price than individually. For example, you only pay 12,99 euros per month for both subscriptions in the package, instead of 16,98 euros per month if you were to buy both subscriptions individually. The Ultimate Pass also gives you access to over 100 games on your PC. Interested parties can start right away - the beta is already open. You can buy the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate here. There is also a special offer at the start: If you are quick, you can test the package for 1 euro.

Then there was a third pass to see - the Game Pass for PC. For a price of 3,99 euros a month, you can use the same advantages on your Windows 10 PC as with the Game Pass - but without Live Gold membership. Game Pass for PC contains PC titles like "Football Manager 2019", "Imperator: Rome" or "Metro Exodus". The Game Pass for PC is available here. The beta has also been available since yesterday evening.

Elite Series 2 controller

The Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 was also presented yesterday. With the successor, you should have listened to the feedback from your customers and improved some things. The controller has been further developed in terms of performance, adaptability and durability. The controller offers 30 new and improved features, such as thumbsticks whose tension can be adjusted, an all-round rubber grip surface, sensitive trigger locks and up to 40 hours of battery life.

The Elite Series 2 will be released on November 4, 2019 at a price of 179,99 euros and is available now pre-ordered on the Microsoft homepage .
