The rollout of the Google Assistant is in full swing. Unfortunately, not all new smartphones are equipped with this. In this guide, we show you a trick on how to activate it immediately.

Together with the Google Pixel, the company has presented a smart assistant. For a long time this was reserved for pixel phones only. For a few weeks now, this has also been for others supported smartphones available. However, the rollout takes a while - but there is a trick to activate it immediately.

Activate the Google Assistant - here's how!

To use the trick, you must first switch to the settings. Here you choose or search for the point "Languages & input". Here you have to select the top item "Languages". Here tap on "Add language" and select the language English, then "United States". Finally, it is still necessary to remove the remaining languages using the menu at the top right. Once that is all done, we come to the next point.

Finally, it is necessary to restart the smartphone for all changes to take effect. After a restart, hold down the home button on your smartphone for a long time - the Assistant should now appear here instead of Google Now. With a tip on “Continue” it is ready to use immediately. In the first steps it is now possible to optionally configure the keyword "Ok Google", after which some authorizations may have to be obtained.

Since the Google Assistant supports the German language, you can now switch back to German. To do this, simply switch back to the settings, change the language, delete English. Now you shouldn't restart afterwards, as this disappears again on some smartphones. Some users also report that the Google Assistant is no longer available in German after a few hours. Otherwise, the Assistant should now be available on your device in German.

short form

  1. Switch to the settings of your smartphone.
  2. Switch to English under "Languages & input" and delete all remaining languages.
  3. Then restart your smartphone.
  4. Call up the assistant by long pressing your home button.
  5. Make the first settings with the assistant.
  6. To use the Assistant in German, switch the language back to German. It may disappear in German after a few hours and Google Now appears.
