Honor Magic 6 Pro review: Hands-on, first impressions and technical data

Hello from Barcelona - where Honor officially presented the Magic 2024 Pro for Europe shortly before the start of MWC 6. Professionals know, of course, that the device has been available in China for some time. We take a look at the flagship, which will make it to Germany - and even Austria - in the first hands-on.
The Honor Magic 6 Pro will be one of the new smartphones in a long time that will also be available in this country. After the spin-off from Huawei, Honor is now an independent company - but continues to be based on its former subsidiary in some things. The advantage of this is the complete availability of Google services, which are no longer available from Huawei.
After these few days it is still too short for a complete test, so we will start with a first impression. As usual, we will submit a detailed test report in the coming weeks.

Honor Magic 6 Pro first impression
In this country, the Honor Magic 6 Pro is available in two colors - green and black. The green version comes with a back with a basketball grip, which feels really good and is a good counterpart to the (in my opinion) boring glass backs.
How can I say it - the setup and the software feel like home, like on a Huawei smartphone. No wonder, after all, the current Honor MagicOS is based on the EMUI of the time. The whole thing is enriched with a few gimmicks - including a kind of Dynamic Island, as we know it from Apple. The Honor Magic 6 Pro currently runs on MagicOS 8.0.0.120 with Android 14 as a base.

Under the hood there is a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, which is accompanied by 12 GB of RAM (+ 7 GB of “RAM Turbo”, technically savvy people would call it “swap”). There is 512 GB of internal memory for storing files. We have summarized the complete table a little further below.
Honor Magic 6 Pro in the first camera test
On the way and in Barcelona, the Honor Magic 6 Pro accompanied me through the beautiful old town and the alleyways. My most used function was the camera, which, apart from a few minor issues, performed really well. There are still difficulties with the zoom levels from 10x onwards - the 100x zoom is unfortunately completely unusable. But these are all things that will be improved in future updates before the market launch, Honor assures us.

Availability and prices
When will it happen? Honor is talking about a market launch in Austria in the second quarter, i.e. between April 2 and June 01, 30. The flagship will then be available at the same time as the Honor Magic 2024 Lite and Honor Magic V6 from selected retailers without a contract, as well as from the first mobile phone providers. The Honor Magic 2 Pro will be launched in Germany and Austria in black and green, with the 6 GB RAM + 12 GB internal storage variant at a price of 512 euros.
