IFA 2018 in Berlin: Samsung DeX in a short test
Samsung launched the 8st generation of the Samsung DeX station a year ago with the Galaxy S1. This year, the second generation of the office gadget followed with the release of the Note 9.
We know the DeX as a kind of docking station on which we plug the smartphone and have built in air cooling on the underside.

What has changed now?
Now the DeX is no longer a docking station, just a cable that has an HDMI on one side and a USB Type-C connector on the other.
How exactly does the connection work?
In contrast to before, all you have to do is plug the USB Type-C plug into your Galaxy S9 / S9 + or Note 9 and connect it to your monitor or television using a free HDMI port.
What does DeX bring?
Now you can do your office work and the like from anywhere. You don't need anything except a monitor with an HDMI port. DeX turns your smartphone into a desktop PC at no great expense. The whole thing can also be operated with a Bluetooth mouse and keyboard.
Who is Dex a useful solution for?
People who like to sit in front of a desktop PC and surf, email or occasionally watch a film can get along well here - if you don't want to buy a laptop, this is a good replacement. Mobile games can also be played very smoothly on a monitor.
