OPPO Find X3: Unboxing and first impression of the non-Pro variant

The Chinese manufacturer OPPO introduced the new Find X3 series, consisting of the X3 Lite, X3 Neo and a Pro model, for the European market a few months ago. However, outside of Europe there is still the regular OPPO Find X3 and this is exactly what we want to take a closer look at in the following lines.

Compared to the Pro model, there are hardly any differences. Inside, there is "only" the Snapdragon 870 instead of the 888, and this is also "only" supported by 8 GB of RAM. There is no official IP68 certification, but the smartphone is still supposed to be waterproof, just not officially. Otherwise, it offers the same hardware as the Pro model and costs only 630 euros in Chinese shops. My detailed test report in a few weeks will, among other things, clarify the question of whether the regular X3 with the few compromises is the better deal compared to the Pro model. But for now, let's unpack the smartphone.

OPPO Find X3 unboxing

When you touch the packaging, you quickly notice that you are dealing with a comparatively expensive and high-quality smartphone. The box is significantly larger than almost all other devices. It is light gray, feels extremely valuable and on the front we find a large "3" and the lettering "Find X".

Once you have removed the lid, a large gray box appears, containing the usual paperwork, albeit only in Chinese. An OPPO Care+ card is also included. Directly underneath is the smartphone, which is in a film for protection. Once you have removed this, you can see a film on the front to protect the display. This feels good, but in my case could have been applied a little better. The manufacturer also supplies a transparent case, which is matt in the case of the white color. In-ear headphones, a large 65-watt power adapter and a matching USB-C to USB-A cable are also included. Since this is a Chinese smartphone, the power adapter is not suitable for European sockets, but for Chinese ones. However, TradingShenzhen supplies an EU / UK / AU adapter so that the smartphone can be charged without any problems.

First impression of the OPPO Find X3

I've been using the OPPO Find X3 for a few days now and I'm very impressed so far. One reason for this is the beautiful design. The frame is made of metal with a high-gloss look and feels extremely high-quality, but is also very susceptible to fingerprints. My absolute highlight, however, is on the back. Here, at least in the white color, matte glass is used, which feels extremely high-quality and is absolutely not susceptible to fingerprints. It is a piece of glass that curves smoothly around the camera block. Not only does it look unique, it also feels incredibly comfortable. Almost all other smartphones have sharp-edged camera bumps that feel a little uncomfortable on the one hand and where dust can easily collect on the other. You don't have these problems with the Find X3. In addition, the white color looks beautiful in my opinion and is definitely something different.

If we turn the smartphone around, we see a familiar image. The 6,7-inch OLED display is slightly rounded on both sides, the edges are pleasantly thin and the front camera is housed in a small punch hole. Like its predecessor, the panel supports a smooth 120 Hertz refresh rate, which is definitely noticeable in everyday life. The combination of a high refresh rate and the Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 ensures excellent performance. Apps start and close extremely quickly, there are practically no stutters and even more complex tasks pose no problems for the Find X3.

Otherwise, the speakers, the fingerprint sensor in the screen, the vibration motor and the 3 megapixel microscope camera caught my eye. The latter takes impressive pictures that I have never seen in any other smartphone. It is difficult to find the right distance to the object, but once you've made it, the images are really impressive. So far, I can't say too much about the rest of the cameras or the battery life. In my detailed test report in a few weeks, I will report in much more detail about the OPPO Find X3 and also compare it with other smartphones.
