With the Sennheiser SPORT True Wireless, Sennheiser is offering in-ears specifically for sports for the first time. I could look at this for several monthsprobeer

Sennheiser now has a number of in-ear headphones in several price ranges. How do you mean past tests can see, so far all of them have been able to convince me as far as possible. With the SPORT True Wireless, the manufacturer has added a model to its range for the first time, which is specially designed for workouts. Although you could MOMENTUM TrueWireless 3 also use for sports activities, but this offers Product some features that make them better for this application.

In this test report you can read exactly what these are and how the headphones generally perform in everyday life.

Unboxing and initial setup

With the SPORT True Wireless you also get the typical Sennheiser unboxing experience, which I have already described in detail in the last test reports. After removing the seal and lifting the lid, a card will greet you with an explanation of the different sound modes. I'll explain what that's all about later. Below is the charging case, which contains the two plugs, instructions and various other pieces of paper, six different silicone attachments and four different sized silicone rings with wings for attachment to the housing.

The initial setup runs as usual. You put the in-ears in the case and plug it into the power supply. Then you have to put them in your ears and keep both touch surfaces on the sides pressed. This will initiate pairing mode. Now you can select the SPORT True Wireless in the Bluetooth settings of the end device. If you need help with the setup, there is also a guided setup in the Smart Control app from Sennheiser with this model.

Design, workmanship and comfort

Visually, the SPORT True Wireless look similar to the MOMENTUM True Wireless 3, but they have a slightly sportier and more robust look. The housing of the in-ears has a slightly different shape and the charging box has no fabric cover here. The Sennheiser SPORT True Wireless are only available in black, with some rose gold accents added to the Sennheiser logo.

The earplugs are IP54 protected against dust, splash water and sweat. So you shouldn't go swimming with it. The housing is made of plastic and is consistently well made. We find a touch-sensitive surface on both sides, which is sometimes used to control playback. Earlier I mentioned that there are several silicone rings with a wing for the case. This wing wedges into the ear cups. I really liked the concept with the silicone rings with the MOMENTUM True Wireless 3, because the case doesn't have to be so bulky and a good grip is still guaranteed. Furthermore, Sennheiser includes two different types of silicone attachments, namely open and closed ones. With the associated equalizer, you either get more or less of the outside world. How and whether this affects the sound, we look at in one of the other chapters.

The box for charging the SPORT True Wireless is again very big (why can't you make it smaller?). The manufacturer also opted for plastic for this one, but I am satisfied with the workmanship here too. The only negative thing I noticed here was the magnet that holds the in-ears in place. Although these can be easily removed and reinserted, they can fall out in the event of strong shocks. This is not the case with the MOMENTUM True Wireless 3, for example. In return, the magnet for the flap keeps it reasonably tight. The loop for hanging around the wrist is new. Especially at sports events, where you may not have a bag to store the case, I imagine this to be very practical. The USB-C port is again on the back and here it's even covered with a plastic cap to prevent water damage. I'm just wondering if it won't tear down sooner or later.

Battery life

According to Sennheiser, the battery life should be a full 36 hours. The headphones should be able to be used for nine hours without charging, and the charging box should hold an additional 27 hours. In my experience, these values are correct. The SPORT True Wireless lasted for several days at a time with light use and even after several hours of music enjoyment, the battery does not run out so quickly. At least here, the oversized case pays off.

It takes about an hour and a half for the case and headphones to be fully charged again. A charging time of just 10 minutes is enough to use the plugs for an hour. Wireless charging is not included. I would have liked that, but given the low price, that's not too disappointing.

sound quality

The 7-millimeter TrueResponse driver from Sennheiser works in the SPORT True Wireless itself, which we already know from others Proknow products. This covers frequencies from five hertz to 21 kilohertz, the loudspeaker sensitivity is 110 decibels and the distortion factor is less than 0,08 Procent. Active noise suppression was not used on this model, but thanks to the closed silicone plugs it's not even that big Prostated problems.

Bluetooth 5.2 ensures a solid and fast connection. The SPORT True Wireless probalance easily. SBC, AAC and aptX codecs are supported for transmission.

The sound quality itself comes from the Sennheiser CX (Plus) True Wireless very close. The sound is clear, balanced and natural, and the bass is sufficient without overdoing it. One criticism of the CX True Wireless was that voices are rather quiet and sometimes get lost in the background. I can happily confirm that this is not the case with the SPORT True Wireless. Compared to the MOMENTUM True Wireless 3, the sound could be more natural, but that's not a big deal for the price.

What is it about the different silicone attachments? As already mentioned, there are open and closed earbuds and the matching equalizers "Aware" and "Focus". Depending on the type of plug, you hear more or less from your surroundings. Fortunately, the sound is not affected. The only important thing is that the right equalizer is always set, otherwise the content will appear dull or tinny. Simply put, we're dealing with a mix of passive and active noise cancellation here. It's a nice feature, it works well, but it's also a bit cumbersome. Changing the silicone tips can be annoying. And unfortunately it is not recognized which attachment is mounted, which means that the headphones cannot automatically change the equalizer.

Sennheiser Smart Control app

All settings on the Sennheiser SPORT True Wireless are made via the Smart Control app. The app is available free of charge for Android and iOS.

Since my test of the MOMENTUM True Wireless 3, however, it has not received any further changes. The look and the range of functions remained the same. Just a small section to select the previously mentionedprochenen equalizer is new. Therefore, the same cons remain from last time: there is no accurate display of the battery and any advantages of the optional Sennheiser account are not apparent.

Prices and availability

An RRP of EUR 129,90 is requested for the Sennheiser SPORT True Wireless. You can buy them directly from Sennheiser or from Amazon.

Sennheiser SPORT True Wireless: Conclusion

With the Sennheiser SPORT True Wireless, the manufacturer impressively shows what it can do in the 100-euro price range and refines the overall package with the exciting concept of various silicone tips for a better sporting experience. The good and comfortable fit in the ear, the unbeatable sound in the price range and the long battery life made a good impression. The switching between the "Aware" and "Focus" equalizers, the processing of the cover of the charging port and the already mentioned shortcomings of the Smart Control app are sometimes in need of improvement.

Now who is the target audience for this Product? The SPORT True Wireless are suitable for everyone who is looking for good headphones in this price segment and who regularly does sports. The better grip definitely pays off here. Otherwise, the CX (Plus) True Wireless do the same.

Thank you for providing the Sennheiser SPORT True Wireless.
