iPhone 14 Pro:hardware
Design
From the optical point of view, we also see the iPhone 14 Pro the well-known iPhone design, of course. The camera module has become a bit larger and more dominant than on its predecessor, and the new color is now violet in addition to the classic gold and silver. There is now also a matte black. The feature of the iPhone 14 can only be seen on the front Pro, the pill-shaped front camera cutout.
It may seem strange at first, but it has been added to the iOS 16 software as a kind of "taskbar" that now replaces informational indicators such as successful pairing with headphones. Otherwise we have the classic sizes in the lineup, the iPhone 14 Pro has a 6,1 inch, and the iPhone 14 Pro Max a 6,7 inch display.
Display
Speaking of Display, this also has the iPhone 14 Pro get a boost in brightness. With HDR content, a maximum brightness of 2.000 nits should now be possible under sunlight, which breaks the record for the currently highest brightness in a smartphone. The rest remains unchanged on a good basis, including the high resolution and refresh rate of 120 Hertz. Only the Always-On Display, which has been available for Android for a long time, has been added. This shows a darkened wallpaper and the time as information even when it is locked, similar to the Apple Watch. Although this has been implemented more beautifully than in well-known Android smartphones, it should also significantly increase power consumption.
Performance & battery
Apple speaks of a "all-day battery life", but does not compare it to other iPhones. Therefore, one can deduce that the battery life is probably a little worse than its predecessor, the iPhone 13 Pro (Max), will be. And this despite the fact that inside the iPhone 14 Pro the new, more efficient A16 Bionic SoC is at work. This is now manufactured using the four-nanometer process and is said to consume less power with greater performance. Also new is the display engine, which is responsible for an energy-saving supply of the new always-on display.
iPhone 14 Pro: camera system
The camera has been the aspect that Apple has been addressing the longest at the keynote for several years. Also on the iPhone 14 Pro (Max) there are numerous innovations again. Similar to what was suggested in the leaks, the main camera now has a resolution of 48 megapixels and the sensor is said to be 65 Procent bigger. However, Apple also uses pixel binning technology, which always adds up four pixels for better low-light behavior and thus an image with twelve megapixels produe. only in ProRAW mode should allow the user to access the full resolution.
Due to the high resolution, Apple can now also do a double zoom with optical quality, better than the iPhone 12 Pro, to offer. The ultra-wide angle is also said to have received a new sensor with better low-light behavior. Also new is the front camera, which now supports autofocus and can therefore shift the focus area.
The area around the video recordings was only discussed by Apple in a few sentences, contrary to rumours, recording in 8k resolution is not supported. Only the cinema mode, which last year with the iPhone 13 Pro was introduced, now supports a resolution of 4k with a maximum of 30, optionally 24 images pro Second.
iPhone 14 Pro: Increased prices
At the keynote, Apple announced that the prices should remain the same as for the predecessor, but this only applies to the American market. In the euro area, we definitely have to cope with a high price increase of 150 euros. The reason for this is undoubtedly inflation. Specifically, this means that the iPhone 14 Pro at 1.299 Euros for 128 gigabytes of storage starts, for 1.429 Euros, so 130 euros more, there is then 256 gigabytes of storage and the most expensive version with a terabyte costs whopping 1.949 Euros.
The iPhone 14 Pro Max Each version is 150 euros more expensive than the iPhone 14 Pro, so is the basic version (128 GB) with 1.449 Euros, the version with Gigabyte 256 at 1.579 Euros priced and for the most expensive version (1 TB) the customer must 2.099 Euros fork out At such prices you can now really think of a luxuryproproduct that Apple offers. The smartphones will be available from September 16th.
